Doula

Doula - a Greek word meaning 'woman servant or caregiver'. A doula believes in 'mothering the mother' enabling the mother to have the most satisfying and empowered time that she can during pregnancy, birth and the early days as a Mum.

Often expectant parents feel that they want only each other and the midwife to be present at the time of their baby's birth. A doula does not interfere with the family unit and the desire for labour to be a private experience.

Labour can be an extremely rewarding and yet challenging experience. It is vital that the birthing woman feels loved and supported. Dads can often feel that there is a lot of multi tasking to do at a highly emotive time. Countless times we are hearing couples feedback their amazing birth stories and finish by saying 'next time we will have a doula'.

The support gained by having a doula with you during your pregnancy and labour journey cannot be underestimated. A doula is highly experienced in birth. She provides the continuity of support and reassurance that cannot often be provided by midwives these days.

The Doula package costs £900, a discount is offered to couples that have attended the Babies in Waiting Hypnobirthing course.
